Position Summary:
The Chairside Dental Assistant Program Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and hands-on clinical training to students enrolled in the Chairside Dental Assistant program. The instructor supports student success by teaching theoretical and practical components of dental assisting, maintaining a positive learning environment, and ensuring students are prepared for clinical placements and employment in the dental field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction in accordance with the program curriculum.
- Teach chairside assisting procedures, infection prevention and control, dental instruments, sterilization techniques, dental charting, radiography principles, and patient care.
- Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, assignments, quizzes, and examinations.
- Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback and academic support.
- Demonstrate proper use of dental equipment, instruments, and clinical procedures.
- Monitor student attendance, progress, and professionalism.
- Maintain accurate academic records and submit grades and reports on time.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards and infection control protocols.
- Support students during lab activities and clinical practice sessions.
- Participate in faculty meetings, program reviews, and curriculum updates.
- Foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Coordinate with administration and clinical placement sites as required.
Qualifications:
- Certified Dental Assistant designation or equivalent dental industry credential.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of recent chairside dental assisting experience.
- Previous teaching or training experience is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of dental procedures, infection control, and dental office operations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and educational technology platforms.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
