Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and interactive classroom instruction by applying a variety of teaching methods that support adult learners in meeting courses and program learning outcomes.
- Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student participation, motivation, and academic success.
- Implement diverse instructional techniques to enhance students' understanding, practical skills, and long-term knowledge retention.
- Assess student progress and achievement using a range of evaluation methods, including assignments, quizzes, projects, and examinations.
- Maintain accurate academic records, including attendance, grades, assessments, and other required documentation.
- Develop, review, and revise course outlines, syllabi, and instructional materials to ensure they remain current and aligned with curriculum requirements.
- Design comprehensive lesson plans and organize course schedules to support effective and well-structured instruction.
- Collaborate with the Academic Lead and/or Program Coordinator in the development, review, and continuous improvement of curriculum, instructional manuals, and educational resources as required.
Education and Skills Requirement:
- A diploma or degree in Medical Office Administration, Dental Office Administration, Health Administration, Healthcare Management, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of two (2) years of recent and relevant work experience in a medical office, dental office, healthcare clinic, hospital, or other healthcare administrative environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, dental terminology, medical and dental office procedures, electronic medical records (EMR), appointment scheduling, patient records management, healthcare documentation, and privacy legislation.
- Experience with medical and dental billing procedures, insurance claims processing, bookkeeping, and office administration practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and healthcare office software, including electronic health record (EHR) or electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Previous teaching, training, mentoring, or adult education experience is preferred.
- An adult education or instructional methodology certificate (or willingness to obtain one) is considered an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, classroom management, and student engagement skills.
- Ability to develop lesson plans, instructional materials, assessments, and learning activities that align with the program learning outcomes.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and student-centered learning environment.
- Knowledge of applicable provincial regulations, privacy legislation, workplace health and safety requirements, and ethical standards related to healthcare administration.
- Current industry knowledge and a commitment to maintaining professional competency through ongoing professional development.
